Semi Complete Nursery

Well I decided that Ben was right...the nursery needed to be green and not khaki. Kids like bright colors. So at 6pm Wednesday evening, I decided it was time to get started. So I headed out to home depot to purchase all the painting supplies. I got the room all tarped up and taped off, so as not to get any of this lovely green paint on our light carpet. Then my friend Jen calls and asks what I am doing, to which I reply, "I am about to start painting." She asks if I want her help and my answer was absolutely (she is a great painter and since I knew my lovely husband was not going to help me because he hates painting, I knew I needed her help). So we started painting about 8pm and were done by 10pm. Not bad for two coats. And I have to say, we did da spectacular job. We were a little concerned at first when we started painting because it was really pea green...but fortunately after it dried and had a second coat it looks just like the grass cloth I purchased. Ben and I moved in the furniture yesterday and tried to get things setup as much as possible. We still have a bit to do, but we are much closer...thank you Lord (and thank you Jen and Ben).

My sweet friend Jen came over at 8pm to help me paint the baby's room. She is an expert painter. I think she has painted all but two rooms in her house.

And then there's me, looking lovely with my mask on (but you gotta be safe). I choose this shirt because it matched the paint. No not really just happened to be one that still sort of fits, although it is getting a little tight. Ben did say he thought I looked like one of those horses with a feed bag attached to their mouths...so sweet.

The crib. The front part folds down which is nice so you can have easier access to the baby. Thanks Lynn and Terri for a great crib and changing table.

The crib and glider. I am sure I will be spending many of hours in this corner. Thanks mom for the beautiful glider.

The changing table. We got a steal of a deal on our crib and changing table thanks to some of our friends from church. $200 for the whole set.

Ben even got the valances hung. Aren't they cute. Thanks babe for hanging the valances and moving all the furniture and picking out a great wall color.

Now all we have left to do, is paint some scripture on the wall and hang the painting our good friend Esther is making us. It feels really good to be close to finishing this project.

So what do you think??

so, I haven't been able to get online much lately--late August is very busy for those of us here at UC Denver. Lots to catch up on here! Love the nursery, love the pics of Ben holding the doll--he always did like dolls! Love you guys, everything looks terrific, can't wait to see it!

Man, I look TERRIBLE in that pic. If you're gonna put up a picture of me up helping you, you gotta get approval first.

But the room looks GREAT!! Along with the horse picture of you. I can still smell the paint fumes.

And, the green doesn't show up nearly as green in the pics as in person. It's a beautiful shade of green.
