Happy Birthday Adiya Grace!




Yes, it's been over two months since I have updated the blog...which really means that I have neglected the last two months of my baby girls baby book. Oops.

Over the past two months Adiya Grace your precious personality has really started to come out. At 10.5 months you started walking and walking with purpose. Once you figured out how to get your little legs underneath you, there was not stopping you. You are busy, busy, busy. You are always on the go and always trying to keep up with your brother. You are such a tiny little thing, so seeing you motoring around everywhere seems a little funny. You love playing the cabinets, pulling out the cleaning supplies, throwing the cups on the floor, sticking your hands in the sugar drawer, and playing in the bottom of the pantry. You love opening and closing doors. You think you are so big--and frankly you are!

You love music and you love to dance. You have this great little shoulder shake that you do when you are really into the tunes. When you realize your loving family is watching, you get an instant smile on your face. You love to clap for yourself and for others. You love your brother--so very much. When you get up in the morning you immediately head for his room, that is if he isn't already in yours loving on you. You love it when he chases you around the house and squeal with great delight when he tickles you. He loves you so very much too.

You are learning to communicate your needs and wants, sometime you use your words--and sometimes your very loud squeal. You certainly have an opinion on the world. You can say mamma, dadda, bubba, bye bye, ball, this, uh-oh, and hi. You can sign more and have just recently starting signing "please"--although instead of rubbing your own chest, you rub ours. When I come home from work, I know I will be greeted by your little smiling face coming down the hallway. Your enthusiastic "hiya" makes my heart melt...every.single.time.

You started at parents day out two days a week. You seem to enjoy your time there and no longer cry when we leave you. I think you love hanging out with people your size and you love that you have lots of things to climb on. You love to climb--your daddy found you on the back of the couch the other day. You had climbed into your chair, onto the couch, and then to the back of it. Again, your daddy makes sure you are so safe :).

You love to eat--food is truly the way to your heart. You are a fan of most everything--crackers, eggs, cheese, veggies, and fruit. You love most meat too! With over 10 teeth it is no wonder you love to eat.
 You sleep like a champ from 7:30pm-7am or so.  It is such a blessing to have such a good sleeper. You aren't the greatest napper, but I suppose that is a trade-off for your great night time sleeping.You are still nursing morning and night.  You love hanging out with your mom and playing with my hair when you are in my lap. You also have started playing with your own hair when you are sleeping.

You love to read. Whenever we talk about reading you will go grab a book, back your little bottom up to me and sit down in my lap. You love sitting in people's laps when they are on the floor. You also love sitting in chairs just your size. You love to play with toys--especially any of bubba's toys. You aren't really into baby dolls or girly things just yet--probably because we have failed to buy you those things.

You had a great Splish, Splash first birthday party despite the fact that your mom scheduled it during your nap time. Oops! You weren't quite sure what to think of your cake at first, but you quickly decided it was worth digging into.

Oh sweet Adiya Grace, you are a treasure of God, who blesses us each and everyday with your precious personality and love of life. I can't wait to see you grow into the woman God has called you to be. We love you so much.

10 months

At 10 months of life, our sweet girl is growing both in stature and in personality. It is so fun to watch her unique personality begin to develop.

At 10 months, Adiya....

Likes:
  • her brother--she smiles everytime he comes into the room and is quick to crawl to his room to "play" with his toys
  • her momma--every time I walk into the room, she gets so excited, her little face lights up and I LOVE IT
  • her dadda--this is the word she repeats all the time. 
  • Food--all kinds of food--we can't give her enough. She especially loves meat, sweet potatoes, watermelon, strawberries, cheese, and RITZ crackers!! This girl is an awesome eater.  
  • Electronics--all kinds, especially mom and dad's phones. Even though she has her own iPhone, she still prefers ours 
Is:
  • Saying a few words--dadda, momma (sparingly), uh-oh, and bubba (sparingly)
  • Walking--she is taking about 10-12 steps on her own
  • Getting into everything--it's amazing how much more lax we are with baby proofing with the second kiddo. Not sure that is a good thing. If she can get into it, she will. She especially loves crawling down the hallway to bubba's room or bathroom. 
  • Sleeping through the night! Woo hoo! Adi goes to bed around 7:15pm and gets up about 6:30am. 
  • Throwing her head back when she is upset--I mean does the drama really start at 10 months? It's really hilarious actually.

Adiya 8 and 9 months

It seems all that this blog is about these days is baby girl. There is more to our life, I promise, but hard to document it all in between all the excitement at our house. As usual I am behind. As I write, Ben is in Israel, so I have been single mommy for the past week and a half--let's just say--it ain't pretty sometimes. We miss our hubby and daddy and can't wait for him to come home on Friday.

Adiya at 8 Months
Weight: 19 lbs 6 oz


During Adiya's 8th month of life she has had grand adventures. In late April, Gigi and I took you to San Francisco for one of my annual conferences. This was your second plane ride and you handled it like a champ. You flirted and played, slept and were generally very happy. I am so proud of you. During said trip you also tried her first bite of pizza--of course, you loved it, you are a Blevins. More importantly,  you learned to crawl while we were away despite the fact that Gigi and I would not let you on the floor of the hotel. Gigi, of course, is taking all the credit for your new found mobility, citing her ability to also get Eli to crawl in a hotel room while she was babysitting when he was about 10 months old. By the end of 8 months, both of your bottom teeth were broken through and your top two were almost there. You still prefer momma's milk--but you have a new found love of food--only the kind that you can pick up and eat yourself. This includes sweet potatoes (your favorite), avocado, bananas, green beans, frozen blueberries, strawberries, cheese, crackers, etc. You continued to struggle with ear infections this month, but seem to be doing much better now.

At nine months, Adiya Grace you are fully mobile. You are crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. We put up the baby kennel--the one that worked so well to keep your brother contained--only to find out that you are an escape artist and can get out very easily. You are FAST too. One minute you will be in the living room and the next you have crawled down the tiled hallway into bubba's room and are playing with his toys. You are also not very loud--so sometimes it is hard to find you when you crawl off (oh the joys of second children). You are so happy these days. Your new found mobility has increased your sunny disposition tenfold. You love being able to go and do by yourself. I already see your independent side starting to develop. But boy do you love your bubba. There is no one else who can make you laugh as much as he does. You will follow him with your whole body when he walks into or out of a room. And he loves you so very very much. When he wakes up in the morning the first thing he asks about is you. It melts my heart every single day. You now have 4 teeth--which you used to bite me yesterday--not fun! Every once in a while you will show off that toothy grin. You have developed yucky allergies, so your sweet nose runs all the time. Doesn't seem to bother you though. You generally take two naps a day and sleep from 8pm- 7am. We are still working on sleeping through the night--but I have high hopes after our trip to the Taylor's this weekend (in which you slept two nights without waking up). You are growing more and more hair these days. You are eating like a champ these days. You love anything you can pick up with your fingers and put in your mouth...your new found favorite is ritz crackers. You make this little grunting sound and kick you feet when you want more to eat--which is usually some type of carb. You also still love sweet potatoes, strawberries, green beans, bananas, cantaloupe, watermelon, and much more. We love you so so much.

Eli learns to swim

 Eli and his best friend, Max, took swim lessons together last week. The boys had a great time and learned a lot...at least from what I can tell. Eli will now put his face down in the water and blow bubbles. He will kick his legs and scoop his arms.  Everyday he was so excited to go to Ms. Sandy's house with Max to swim. So proud of my boy and his accomplishments. Now we just need to practice, practice.

Adiya Grace Blevins Baby Dedication

Adiya Grace Blevins was dedicated back to the Lord on April 14, 2013. We were able to celebrate with our family and friends on this joyous day.

7 months and full of life!

Happy 7 months Adiya Grace! Sorry momma is always a few days late on these posts, but I love you nonetheless. At 7 months you are really starting to develop your own personality. You are a happy girl these days especially when you are around your bubba.

Stats: 
Weight: 18 lbs 4 oz

What's New with You: 
  • Sleeping without a swaddle on your belly (still hasn't helped you sleep any better, since you are still up 2-3 times a night)
  • Starting to eat food--it's taken a long time to convince you that food is good. You refuse to eat mushy baby food, only soft chunks for you. So far you love avocado, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, pears, mango, banana, and puffs.
  • Lifting your arms up when you want to be picked up
  • Starting to push up on your knees a bit
  • Getting more hair by the day...who knows maybe by the time you are two we can put a bow in your hair
  • Saying things like dadda and making deep grunting noises that mean something really important since you say it all the time. 
  • Wearing a size 2 diaper (although you really need to be in a size 3...but we are trying to finish up the 2s)
  • Wearing 9 month clothing
  • You cut your first tooth...so far it hasn't seemed to bother you (tooth number two is in the process of coming through too...both on the bottom)
  • You still have an ear infection, that won't seem to clear up--so we are on antibiotic #3. It doesn't seem to bother you much because you are still super happy

Eli's Trip to the Farm Continues


Eli had an amazing trip in Louisiana. While we missed him terribly, he enjoyed himself so much! I love that Eli is getting to experience many of the same things I experienced when I was his age....fishing, farming, and great fun! Thanks to my awesome mom and cousin clayton for taking care of our little man.
