2 Month Stats

Well we went for our 2 month checkup today. Here are the stats

Weight: 11 lb 5 oz
Height: 23 inches
Head 40.5 centimenters

50 % in all categories

He has jumped from the 5% percentile at 1 week, to 10-15% at 2 weeks, now to the 50%...and that isn't even for his adjusted age. He is an over achiever for sure.

Eli- 7 1/2 Weeks!

7 Weeks! The last time I weighed him (which means I stand on the scale by myself, then stand on the scale with Eli and calculate the difference...so official) he weighed 10lb 6oz. So he is a growing boy. As you can tell...

Look at that happy baby...Eli loves baths. It is like a baby sedative for him.

This is the cute outfit we got from one of friends in Oklahoma. I took a picture of Eli in it to send to them...after the picture he promptly spit up all over himself. At least we got the pic.

Look at that face. Chunky and happy.

Precious. Eli loves sleeping with daddy (and daddy LOVES sleeping with Eli). This is probably why Eli does not like to sleep in his bassinet, crib or pack-n-play.

My BOYS!!
Finally, it has been a little colder in Texas...so Eli has his winter clothes on.
Do you like his little hoodie!!

Single White Female Much?

So my sweet friend Jen was given a great gift for her birthday...a new car. Well, she didn't actually get the car for her birthday, but she got the go ahead to pick one out and buy it. And wanting to waste no time, in true Jen style, she started car shopping. So less than a week after her birthday, Blake and Jen headed to Houston to pick up their new vehicle. And look what she came home with....
Yes that is right...a 2003 Chevy Suburban. White, with tan leather interior...

Wait, did they buy TWO...oh no...
that's MY 2003 chevy suburban...white, with tan leather interior.
(are we getting the whole single white female bit)
Yes, that's right folks, Jen and I have the exact same car
(well hers has captain chairs, a DVD player and gold pin stripping...SO different)
We are some cute mamas in our 2003 Chevy Suburbans...white, with tan leather interior!

Now if she cuts her hair and dies it brown, has a baby and names him Elijah Bamuel, I will know something is UP!

Brawls...and not the violent kind!

Okay, so yesterday I had the pleasure of watching my dear friend Jen's kiddos. So Eli and I headed down to the Taylor's house for a little afternoon of fun and adventure and that is just what it proved to be. So it's 4:30pm and time to feed Eli. I tell Camron, who is 8 and super smart that I am going to go feed Eli and if he needs me to holler through the bedroom door. Brandon, who is 6 and also super smart, but super inquisitive, was playing on the computer in the other room, so I didn't give him the same instructions as Cam thinking he would still be playing computer when I was finished. So I head into the bedroom, get all situated, and start feeding.... then there is a little knock on the door. Quickly I pull my shirt down to try and create some bit of modesty, when I hear the following:

Brandon: Miss Brooke
Me: Yes, Brandon
Brandon: (opening the door to the bedroom as I am trying to cover myself up) Why can't you be seen when you are giving Eli milk?
Me: (wheels spinning in my head) Uhmmm...welll...uhmmm...well Brandon Eli is breastfed so it's different than a bottle and you dont want to see that.
Brandon: So he gets milk out of your stomach??
Me: (frantically trying to decide if now is the time to have the conversation, wondering what Jen would say, all the while trying to keep my baby latched on and talk to a curious 6 year old) SURE!
Brandon: okay (he shuts the door)
Me: (in my head...what the heck did I just tell the kid, milk comes out of my stomach...oh Jen's got some 'splanin to do)

So Jen gets home, I tell her the story and of course, she cracks up. Then, Jen and I start our duty of cutting fruit for our 2nd Annual Soul 2 Sole 5K run when the following conversation ensues...

Eli: wahaa, wahaa (that's his crying noise)
Me: Guess it's time to feed the little guy
Brandon: Why can't Ben feed him
Jen: (seeing a perfect opportunity to clarify my hideous explanation). Brandon, where do babies who don't drink from a bottle get milk from?
Brandon: I don't know Mom
Jen: Come on Bran, you know this
Brandon: From the bellybutton
Jen: No Brandon that is where babies eat from when they are inside their mom, where do they eat from when they are out?
Brandon: I don't know
Jen: What do mommies have that daddies don't
Brandon: I don't know
Jen: (sticking her chest out, Camron in the background gesturing to his chest) Come on Bran what do mommies have that dad's don't
Brandon: I don't know
Jen: Yes you do
Brandon: Oh yea, Brawls (yes friends that is bras is 6 year old speak)
Jen: Yes, that's right brawls. Remember mommies have milk in their brawls.
Brandon: So babies get milk from their mommies brawls
Jen: Yes, and are brawls a private part
Brandon: Yea, I guess
Jen: So that is why you can't see miss Brooke when she is feeding Eli, because she is feeding him from her brawls
Brandon: Brawls have nipples right
Jen: Yes, Brandon brawls do have nipples, that is how the milk comes out

(okay let's pause for a second. I am standing at the kitchen table watching this conversation happen, cracking up, I mean tears welling up in my eyes cracking up. I had to put the knife I was using to cut up the fruit down for fear that I would slice my finger off)

Brandon: Well why can't Ben feed him from a bottle
Jen: Because Miss Brooke feeds him from her brawls.
Blake: Seriously Jen you have got to teach our kid that they aren't called brawls...they are mammary glands, breasts, something other than brawls
Jen: Okay Blake, you have that conversation.

Oh friends, the joys of boys...especially 6 year old, super smart and super inquistive boys!!
