Adiya 8 and 9 months

It seems all that this blog is about these days is baby girl. There is more to our life, I promise, but hard to document it all in between all the excitement at our house. As usual I am behind. As I write, Ben is in Israel, so I have been single mommy for the past week and a half--let's just say--it ain't pretty sometimes. We miss our hubby and daddy and can't wait for him to come home on Friday.

During Adiya's 8th month of life she has had grand adventures. In late April, Gigi and I took you to San Francisco for one of my annual conferences. This was your second plane ride and you handled it like a champ. You flirted and played, slept and were generally very happy. I am so proud of you. During said trip you also tried her first bite of pizza--of course, you loved it, you are a Blevins. More importantly,  you learned to crawl while we were away despite the fact that Gigi and I would not let you on the floor of the hotel. Gigi, of course, is taking all the credit for your new found mobility, citing her ability to also get Eli to crawl in a hotel room while she was babysitting when he was about 10 months old. By the end of 8 months, both of your bottom teeth were broken through and your top two were almost there. You still prefer momma's milk--but you have a new found love of food--only the kind that you can pick up and eat yourself. This includes sweet potatoes (your favorite), avocado, bananas, green beans, frozen blueberries, strawberries, cheese, crackers, etc. You continued to struggle with ear infections this month, but seem to be doing much better now.

At nine months, Adiya Grace you are fully mobile. You are crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. We put up the baby kennel--the one that worked so well to keep your brother contained--only to find out that you are an escape artist and can get out very easily. You are FAST too. One minute you will be in the living room and the next you have crawled down the tiled hallway into bubba's room and are playing with his toys. You are also not very loud--so sometimes it is hard to find you when you crawl off (oh the joys of second children). You are so happy these days. Your new found mobility has increased your sunny disposition tenfold. You love being able to go and do by yourself. I already see your independent side starting to develop. But boy do you love your bubba. There is no one else who can make you laugh as much as he does. You will follow him with your whole body when he walks into or out of a room. And he loves you so very very much. When he wakes up in the morning the first thing he asks about is you. It melts my heart every single day. You now have 4 teeth--which you used to bite me yesterday--not fun! Every once in a while you will show off that toothy grin. You have developed yucky allergies, so your sweet nose runs all the time. Doesn't seem to bother you though. You generally take two naps a day and sleep from 8pm- 7am. We are still working on sleeping through the night--but I have high hopes after our trip to the Taylor's this weekend (in which you slept two nights without waking up). You are growing more and more hair these days. You are eating like a champ these days. You love anything you can pick up with your fingers and put in your mouth...your new found favorite is ritz crackers. You make this little grunting sound and kick you feet when you want more to eat--which is usually some type of carb. You also still love sweet potatoes, strawberries, green beans, bananas, cantaloupe, watermelon, and much more. We love you so so much.

Eli learns to swim

 Eli and his best friend, Max, took swim lessons together last week. The boys had a great time and learned a lot...at least from what I can tell. Eli will now put his face down in the water and blow bubbles. He will kick his legs and scoop his arms.  Everyday he was so excited to go to Ms. Sandy's house with Max to swim. So proud of my boy and his accomplishments. Now we just need to practice, practice.

Adiya Grace Blevins Baby Dedication

Adiya Grace Blevins was dedicated back to the Lord on April 14, 2013. We were able to celebrate with our family and friends on this joyous day.


And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.--
