Dr. F...you're my hero!

Well friends, guess I haven't had much excitement to post about these past few days. So I will attempt to put something on here to keep my loyal readers appeased and not appalled at my lack of posts in the past week.

Yesterday, we headed to the doctor for our 28 week checkup. Yes that is right, 28 weeks, 7 months, 3rd trimester....holy moly we are getting so close. The doc did his regular rundown..."hey, how are you?"..."good," I reply. Then he does this battery of questions and now he just sort of runs through them with me without much hesitancy...."leakage, spotting, movement, cramping?"..."no, doing great." He likes to call me a pretty boring patient. Hey I take that as a compliment. Then he informs me that my diabetes screen I took last time came back completely normal...almost too normal he said, like I didn't even drink the nasty orange goo. My blood sugar level was only 62 and normal is anything under 130. I assured him that I did drink the yuckiness (Ben was my witness), but must just metabolize sugar well. Maybe that is why I have such a sweet tooth.

He measures the fundal height (yeah the size of your uterus, funny word I know)...28 weeks exactly. Listens for the heartbeat, while little buddy moves around a lot. Finds it...strong heartbeat. Then says, "I can see your own aorta pulsing in your stomach" and THEN the magic words every pregnant woman longs to hear...."because you're so SKINNY." To which I reply "did you miss this big bump in the middle of my abdomen?" Anywho, when your carrying an extra 20 pounds and feel like your hips might fall out of socket and your back might break in two, the two words "you're skinny" make you feel like a million bucks. Thanks Dr. Feinstein, your my hero.

Bad news, Dr. F is out of town on Oct 31, my due date. He's actually out of town from Oct 29-Nov 1. So we are talking about our options at this point. He doesn't want to induce, so we will just have to wait and see if I have a "favorable" cervix before he leaves and he would induce or if he thinks I will be "unfavorable" until he returns and we can wait it out. Needless to say, he won't let me go past Nov 6th...so that was good to hear.

So the little buddy is doing great!! He is a regular kicker, roller, puncher, and stretcher. He really likes it when I drink or eat sweet things...gets him really riled up.

On another note, we had house guests this weekend. Ben's best friend Justin and his puppies were here with us. They are so much fun. Here are some pics of the dogs. Justin has Colby, a german wire hair, who just had 16 puppies. He has only one puppy left because he has sold or given away the rest. So we had the pleasure and that's what it was pleasure of having Colby and one puppy with us. Oh puppies are the best...so much energy, so soft, such sweet breath, and just so cuddly. The Blevins' dogs didn't really know what to think of Justin's two, but we all survived.

The puppy (who doesn't have a name, otherwise I would be using it) playing with Lori's favorite too...doodle. She didn't really like this, but I didn't really care.

Gus and Colby in a stare off. Fortunately, that really strong baby gate was between them :).

Colby and the sweet puppy.

haha!! boring patient = 5 minute appointments. in and out. I always wanted to hang on to the moment in the doc's office just so i could hear more about the baby.

So, does Dr. Feinstein have a daughter who is also an ob/gyn? Or, wife? Feinstein is my doc's partner. 40ish.

So great to hear all is going well!!!

Well, I predict little bud is indeed going to come BEFORE the 29th (much to you grandmother's regret).OR-- What time is he leaving on the 29th? Maybe you could deliver early in the day.

I plan on packing my bag around the 20th, but probably won't need it until around the 25th.

Should we start a pool to name delivery day? Glad to hear your pregnancy is soooooooo normal.

You're always normal. Well, better than normal. You have had a pretty darn good pregnancy, if I must say. Puppies are so cute, love the one with Gus. So serious. and so proud of you sending the puppy home & not keeping it!! I was a little worried!
