Okay but my rant...none of the places the conference was held in had free wireless internet. Are you kidding me, don't we live in the 21st century. You had to pay like $15 a day for a hardwired connection in your room. Needless to say, I am definitely spoiled by some modern conveniences. So I am home now and very happy to sleep in my own bed tonight. And yes I took my camera and NO I didn't take any pictures!! I know I am a horrible person.

Home From San Diego
Well this week I was in sunny San Diego for the American Educational Research Association conference. The largest conference in my field. I had never been to San Diego so I was very excited about my trip. I arrived on Monday and it was simply lovely. San Diego is amazingly beautiful and very clean. My plan was to go to sessions all day Tuesday and Wednesday morning and then go to the zoo on Wednesday afternoon. Well a freaking northerner blew in (well at least it felt like a northerner to the girl who didn't pack correctly) on Tuesday and stayed that way until I left this morning. So needless to say, no zoo for me. I was pretty bummed because I love, love, love Zoos and San Diego's is supposed to be one of the most beautiful in the country. It was okay though because the conference was super productive. I met a lot of great people, heard some wonderful presentations, went to some nice receptions, and best of all got my dissertation topic pretty much worked out...which if you have ever had to write a dissertation you now how stressful that can be. Considering I have to write my dissertation proposal this summer, narrowing my topic was kind of pressing. I did get to take a nice long walk down the bay on Tuesday morning...that was awesome. The water is so peaceful!

It seems like we end up at more places that don't have free wifi. I don't know what the deal is. If we are at a hotel that has free wifi it is usually terrible. So slow I can't get anything done.
